DeKalb Residents Encouraged to Donate New, Unopened Supplies During 3rd Annual Stuff the Bus School Supply Drive
All donations to be allocated through the DeKalb County School District

DECATUR, Ga. – On Saturday, July 16, 2022, DeKalb County Commissioner Lorraine Cochran-Johnson will host a special event to assist in providing underserved children essential school items.

The 3rd Annual Stuff the Bus School Supply Drive will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in two locations: Northlake Mall (4800 Briarcliff Rd. NE, Atlanta, GA 30345) and South DeKalb Plaza (2726-88 Candler Rd, Decatur, GA 30034, located across the street from the Gallery at South DeKalb).

“Many families are in need of assistance due to economic hardships,” said Commissioner Cochran-Johnson. “By donating new, unopened school supplies, local children can enter the school year with the tools and confidence they need to be successful.”

This event is open to anyone wanting to donate new, unopened school supplies to deserving DeKalb County children. We ask that used items are not donated and encourage individuals to regift those items to a local organization.

“Our Stuff the Bus School Supply Drive has been a great success the last two years,” said Commissioner Cochran-Johnson. “DeKalb County residents unselfishly continue to show up and donate countless items. We are grateful for their benevolence and are confident many will do the same for our children again this year.”

School supplies are highly needed for children of all ages and grades. Some suggested items include:

  • Back Packs
  • Hand Sanitizer
  • Paper
  • Notebooks (composition style)
  • Pencils and Pens
  • Crayons
  • Tape (Scotch brand)
  • Colored Pencils
  • Rulers
  • Safety Scissors
  • Binders (all sizes)
  • Glue Sticks
  • Folders
  • Highlighters
  • Earphones or Earbuds (not wireless)
  • Chromebooks
  • Calculators (TI-84 and 85)

All donations collected will be given to the DeKalb County School District to be distributed to DeKalb County children in need.
