Commissioner Lorraine Cochran-Johnson Sponsors Jan. 27 Soldiers’ Angels Food Distribution for Veterans
Meals to be provided through partnership with Atlanta Community Food Bank and Soldiers’ Angels

DECATUR, Ga. –DeKalb County Commissioner Lorraine Cochran-Johnson allocated $10,000 in 2022 to the Atlanta Community Food Bank to support three Soldiers’ Angels mobile food distributions for Veterans, two of which have already taken place in Sept. and Oct. 2022.

The third mobile food distribution will take place Friday, Jan. 27, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Atlanta VA Arcadia Clinic, 250 North Arcadia Avenue, Decatur, Ga. 30030.

Each recipient will receive a box containing approximately 75 pounds of food packed by volunteers and loaded into cars, pushcarts or backpacks of registered Veterans.

“This year will mark the third year of my partnership with Soldiers’ Angels,” said Commissioner Cochran-Johnson. “I take great pride in supporting our Veterans because they have given so much to protect our country. I feel the food distributions are only a small token of the gratitude they deserve for their enormous sacrifice.”

Soldiers’ Angels is a not-for-profit organization that supports military families, deployed service members, wounded heroes, and Veterans of all eras with aid, comfort, programs and resources.

“In 2021, we supported more than 982,141 service members, Veterans and their families across the country,” said John Harris, Atlanta Area Director of Soldiers’ Angels. “It is through generous donations and partnerships like these that we are able to continue our efforts year-round.”

Veterans interested in the Jan. 27 food assistance distribution must preregister by visiting www.soldiersangels.org/atlanta.

“America has an obligation to ensure our Veterans have access to food, healthcare, and housing as basic human rights, and I am happy to do my part and support our local Veterans,” said Commissioner Cochran-Johnson.
