DECATUR, Ga. – DeKalb County Commissioner Lorraine Cochran-Johnson is proud to partner with Bishop William Murphy and the dReam Center Church of Atlanta, Hosea Feed The Hungry, STEED Society and CORE to offer COVID-19 vaccines and food boxes to DeKalb County families in need.

The DeKalb District 7 Mobile Food Distribution & COVID-19 Vaccination event will take place Saturday, Nov. 5, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the dReam Center Church of Atlanta located at 2600 H.F. Shepherd Drive, Decatur, GA 30034.

The first 300 people, ages 5 and older, to receive a COVID-19 vaccination will get a $100 gift card. Both the COVID-19 vaccine and the new bivalent booster will be available.

“Across the globe, we are continuing to see conversations surrounding food insecurities, due to the lingering effects of COVID-19 and the challenges life can bring,” said Commissioner Cochran-Johnson. “I am proud to provide meals to those who are in need and create the opportunity for families to get vaccinated so they can commune together this holiday season.”

Funding for the event was made available by Commissioner Cochran-Johnson through a $75,000 allocation to Hosea Feed The Hungry for food distributions to residents in DeKalb County, as well as a $50,000 allocation to the STEED Society for vaccinations.

The DeKalb District 7 Mobile Food Distribution & COVID-19 Vaccination event is a part of Commissioner Cochran-Johnson’s ongoing effort to support local organizations that are continually on the front line of assistance year-round. Recently, Commissioner Cochran-Johnson allocated $10,000 to the Atlanta Community Food Bank to support three Soldiers’ Angels mobile food distributions for Veterans, two of which took place in Sept. and Oct. 2022 and the third to occur in early 2023.

Registration is required to receive a food box or a COVID-19 vaccination and is available on a first come, first serve basis. DeKalb County residents needing food assistance should visit https://4hosea.org/DeKalb to complete their registration, and those requiring the vaccination should visit http://dekalbvax.coreresponse.org (for adults) and http://dekalbvaxped.coreresponse.org (for children under 12).
