Commissioner Lorraine Cochran-Johnson to Host District 7 First Quarter Virtual Town Hall
Progress report on District 7 initiatives and updates on county services among topics to be discussed
DECATUR, GA. –DeKalb County Commissioner Lorraine Cochran-Johnson will host a town hall for residents to provide a progress report on District 7 initiatives currently established, those in development and those estimated for the near future.
The DeKalb County District 7 First Quarter Town Hall will occur Thursday, March 11, at 6 p.m. and will take place virtually on Zoom.
“Entering into the third year of my first term, I am proud of the progress District 7 has made towards the priorities I outlined during my campaign,” said Commissioner Cochran-Johnson. “Economic development, home ownership and the fight against blight have seen significant advances, but COVID-19 has impacted service delivery in certain areas. I am eager to share our progress, departmental updates and future projects with District 7 residents.”
The status report will include information regarding new developments as well as an update on HOPE Inside RBC Bank DeKalb, a partnership Commissioner Cochran-Johnson cultivated in 2019 with PNC Bank and Operation HOPE to provide financial dignity training, home ownership assistance, small business development and expansion resources to DeKalb County residents.
In addition, the town hall will feature presentations from DeKalb County department heads informing residents of the updates and changes to county service offerings during COVID-19.
“As DeKalb approaches its first full year of coping with the COVID-19 pandemic, it is prudent residents are aware of the protocol changes each department has made to better serve the county,” said Commissioner Cochran-Johnson. “Information on how to report issues and submit requests will be shared as well as updates on departmental contacts and new service programs.”
Presentations will be made by Peggy Allen (Roads and Drainage), Tim Hardy (Code Enforcement), Tracy Hutchinson (Sanitation), Chris Kingsbury (Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax), Allen Mitchell (Community Development), Mirtha Ramos (Public Safety), Damon Scott (Human Services) and Reginald Wells (Watershed Management).
The DeKalb County District 7 First Quarter Town Hall is free and open to all DeKalb County residents. Interested individuals should register at http://bit.ly/3qOA8ID.
