HISTORIC CONTEXT

The DeKalb Charter Review Commission to conduct a comprehensive review of the Organizational Act that established the county’s current form of government. It has been 43 years since the Organizational Act was initially passed in a public referendum, so the Charter Review process is critical in determining whether the current form of government is responsive to the ever-changing needs and demands of county government.

During the 2018 session of the Georgia General Assembly, leadership in the DeKalb House and Senate delegations collaborated with CEO Thurmond to develop the purpose and framework of the commission.

Special Guest Panel:

  • Karla Drenner | State of Georgia House Representative District 85
  • Jim Grubiak, J.D. | DeKalb County Charter Review Commission Member
  • Steve Henson | DeKalb County Charter Review Commission Member
