Dunwoody residents can register now for the City of Dunwoody’s household hazardous waste recycling event on Saturday, September 10, to be held in the parking lot at Dunwoody City Hall, located at 4800 Ashford Dunwoody Road. This free event runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and is for Dunwoody residents only. They can find a link to register and select a drop-off time online: www.dunwoodyga.gov/waste.
“This is our second household hazardous waste recycling event of 2022, and we’re glad to be able to bring it back as this is a priority for the City and the Dunwoody Sustainability Committee,” said Dunwoody Community Development Director Richard McLeod. “By collecting this waste, we keep it out of a landfill.”
During the first event of 2022 in April, residents recycled 16,930 gallons of latex paint, 6,685 gallons of oil-based paint, 3,243 gallons of pesticides, 1,065 gallons of flammable liquids, and 1,229 gallons of motor oil.
Items that WILL be accepted include the following: oil and latex paints, stains, paint thinner, automobile batteries, household batteries, motor oil, antifreeze, gasoline, diesel, household cleaners, pool chemicals, household chemicals, pesticides, flammables, and corrosives.
Items that will NOT be accepted include the following: agricultural wastes, bio-hazardous/bio-medical waste, ammunition, explosives, radioactive materials, smoke detectors, cylinders of acetylene, oxygen, carbon dioxide, helium, and refrigerant gases.
Residents will need to bring proof of residency to the event. Disposal amounts are limited. Commercial quantities are not allowed at this event.
