  • Operation HOPE hosts Comptroller of the Currency Joseph Otting for Community Development Bus Tour in Atlanta

Last week a delegation led by Comptroller of the Currency Joseph Otting, visited Atlanta for a Community Development Bus Tour hosted by Operation HOPE. Comptroller Otting, along with local representatives from area community groups, redevelopment organizations, and banks, toured neighborhoods that have benefitted from activities encouraged by the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) and areas that could benefit from additional CRA activity. The group received a first-hand look at the city’s progress and development, and explored new ways that the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency can continue to make CRA benefits more accessible to the citizens of the communities it targets.

Comptroller Otting and Chairman Bryant were joined by civil rights icon and HOPE Global Spokesman, Ambassador Andrew Young. The trio led participants in a discussion on the importance of financial literacy in developing communities and the ways in which it empowers individuals and families, as well as strategies to extend the impact to others.

You can read more about the tour and Comptroller Otting’s visit on Chairman Bryant’s blog here.
