DeKalb residents, constituents, and friends,
I sincerely hope you are well as America deals with COVID-19 in real time. I’d like to continue to urge everyone to practice social distancing and to remain positive as we self quarantine to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus. As your Commissioner and a member of the community, I am extremely concerned with the financial impact COVID-19 will have on individuals who may not receive compensation or face limited cash flow during this time. Also, I realize the impact of COVID-19 can be detrimental to small businesses, who are the backbone of our community. Often aid is provided to bail out big business and major corporations, but I will fight vigorously to ensure our local business community receives the aid and support they need.
In today’s Newsletter, I have included a section on resources for small business owners who are adversely affected by COVID-19. Please read carefully the assistance that is available and share it with individuals who may not receive my Newsletter. I will continue to monitor available resources for those who are adversely affected. As many of you may know yesterday, President Trump signed into law a Coronavirus Relief Package (CRP) that includes provisions for free testing for COVID-19 and paid emergency leave. I have included a direct link to the CRP so you understand what it means for each American.
As always, I am available to you. I will continue to pray for my community and do everything within my power to insure there is no disruption of essential services, evictions, or water interruptions during this time.
Your Commissioner,
Lorraine Cochran-Johnson, M.P.A.
Super District 7, DeKalb County
