DeKalb County School District (DCSD) announced Aug. 11 that 37 student athletes from DeKalb County were named Preseason All-State Football Selections by RecruitGeorgia.com.
Dunwoody High School senior quarterback Davis Ledoyen was DCSD’s only all-state selection in the 7A Classification, earning an honorable mention after he led DeKalb County in passing yards last season with 2,708 yards and 19 touchdowns.
Tucker High School had five players named to the preseason all-state 6A honorable mention team. Senior defensive end Dawson Rivers and senior safety Tyler Montgomery made the list after registering 60 tackles each last season.
Junior running back Latavious Johnson was the only offensive skill player to make the team for Tucker, after totaling more than 600 yards and five touchdowns last season. Junior offensive linemen Thyler Williams and Brandon Best—who paved the way for Montgomery and others last season—rounded out the list for Tucker.
Class 5A had seven DCSD players make its preseason all-state honorable mention team.
Lithonia High School senior wide receiver Khalil Roach made the list thanks to his 779 receiving yards and nine touchdowns last season, and Stone Mountain High School senior athlete Shaheim Bailey made the list after totaling nearly 3,000 all-purpose yards, 31 touchdowns, four interceptions and returning a punt for a touchdown.
M.L. King High School had a pair of defenders selected to the honorable mentions team in senior defensive back Adon Flukers and senior linebacker Jomel Robinson. Flukers had four touchdowns, an interception and 14 tackles last season, while Robinson totaled 106 tackles and 11 tackles for loss.
Southwest DeKalb High School had three seniors garner preseason honorable mention honors in defensive end Tory Jones, quarterback Rion White and athlete Robert Grady. White had just under 2,000 and scored 25 touchdowns last season while Jones had six tackles for loss and two sacks, and Grady had 436 yards receiving and five touchdowns.
Arabia Mountain High School and Stephenson High School had one player each selected to the first-team all-state preseason team for Class 5A in Stephenson senior offensive lineman George Jackson and Arabia Mountain senior athlete Brandon Adams. Jackson holds college offers from Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Georgia Tech and other schools, while Adams committed to UCF July 16.
Arabia Mountain High School senior defensive back Damian Fitzpatrick and senior defensive lineman Elliot Howell were named to the honorable mentions team. Senior linebacker Dorian Helm and senior defensive lineman Tommy Smith made the honorable mentions team for Stephenson High School.
Druid Hills High School senior lineman Miles Norris-Nobles and junior safety Max Nunnally also made the 4A honorable mention team.
Reigning state champion Cedar Grove High School was well represented on the all state teams, with 12 total selections.
Senior quarterback Austin Smith, junior receiver Janiran Bonner, senior offensive lineman Keon Watson, junior defensive linemen Christen Miller and senior defensive back Jordan Grier were Cedar Grove’s first-team selections.
Senior kicker Louis Dominguez, senior defensive back Antonio Taylor, senior running back Langston White, junior running back Rashod Dubinion, junior defensive lineman Joshua White, senior offensive lineman Christian Anderson and junior wide receiver Trevon Ferrell were Cedar Grove’s honorable mention selections.
Several Cedar Grove players—including Smith, Grier and Taylor—already committed to play college football, while Dubinion, Bonner, Williams and others have received offers from reigning national champion LSU and other top programs.
Redan High School senior defensive back Jayden Hector joins them as a 3A honorable mention selection after totaling 17 tackles last season.
Columbia senior defensive lineman Caleb Fisher was a first-team all-state selection in Class 2A after recording 30 tackles, 11 tackles for loss and 10 sacks last season.
McNair High School senior athlete Javon Yearby rounded out the DCSD selections as a Class 2A honorable mention. Yearby totaled 553 yards and five touchdowns last season.
