Small business owner Virginia Rece is running for Tucker City Council District 1, Post 2.

That seat was held by the late councilmember Bill Rosenfeld.

The election is Nov. 2, 2021. In her campaign announcement, Rece said her priorities will be “smart economic growth, community safety and rebuilding infrastructure.”

“Throughout my life, I’ve learned what it means to serve,” Rece said. “Now, I’m ready to apply what I’ve learned in business, and in life, to serve my neighbors and the community I love. The people of District 1 deserve a representative who will listen to them and work collaboratively to solve the challenges our community faces every day.”

Rece lives in the Smoke Rise neighborhood with her husband, Will, and their two children Arielle and Christian.

“Rece has a proven track record of advocating for her community,” her campaign announcement says. “She spoke out strongly against the construction of a potentially harmful cell tower on the grounds of Smoke Rise Elementary School. Rece makes it a priority to address the issues that impact her neighbors.”

She said civic engagement is important to her.

“Civic engagement is critical for a strong community,” Rece said. “Through my work in Tucker, I’ve gained a deep understanding of our community’s most pressing issues and the ways we can work together to solve them.”

She’s a member of the Smoke Rise Civic Association Committee and backed the city of Tucker campaign. She also has organized candidate forums in the past.
