With school canceled for Braves parade, $10 will get you childcare
Hey, DeKalb County parents: wondering what to do with your kids on Friday now that school has been canceled at the last minute because they’re having a parade for a baseball team that you can’t go to anyway because they certainly didn’t cancel work?
The local parks and rec department has an option for you.
At eight different DeKalb recreation centers, the county will host a “one-day mini-camp” for kids ages 5 to 15.
It’ll cost you $10 a head — and you’ll have to provide your own breakfast, lunch and snack — but they’ll watch your kids from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
According to a press release, campers will receive temperature checks and must wear a mask while indoors. They will “engage in a variety of recreational and art activities.”
But more importantly, you’ll be able to go to work.
Registration is limited and available now by visiting www.dekalbcountyga.gov/parks and clicking the “Register Online” button on the department’s homepage.
The “mini-camp” will be available at the following locations:
· Exchange Recreation Center, 2771 Columbia Drive in Decatur
· Gresham Recreation Center, 3113 Gresham Road in Atlanta
· Hamilton Recreation Center, 3263 Chapel Street in Scottdale
· Lucious Sanders Recreation Center, 2484 Bruce Street in Lithonia
· Mason Mill Recreation Center, 1340-B McConnell Drive in Decatur
· Midway Recreation Center, 3181 Midway Road in Decatur
· N.H. Scott Recreation Center, 2230 Tilson Road in Decatur
· Tobie Grant Recreation Center, 644 Parkdale Drive in Scottdale
