Commissioner Lorraine Cochran-Johnson Sponsors Soldiers’ Angels Food Distribution for Atlanta-area Veterans in Need

SAN ANTONIO, TX (TBD 2022) – DeKalb County District 7 Commissioner Lorraine Cochran-Johnson is partnering with the national nonprofit Soldiers’ Angels to distribute supplemental food assistance to 200 veteran families at the Atlanta VA Arcadia Clinic. On Friday, October 28, pre-registered families will be provided, on average, 75 lbs. of food, including fresh fruits and vegetables, meats, and non-perishables.

Funding for the meals was made available by Commissioner Cochran-Johnson through a donation to the Atlanta Food Bank from District 7 discretionary funds and is a continuation of her 2020 and 2021 support of Soldiers’ Angels in which she sponsored five food distributions that resulted in feeding more than 1,000 veterans and family members.

“I am proud to continue my support of Soldiers’ Angels and the tireless work and aid they provide to our men and women in service,” said Commissioner Cochran-Johnson. “America has an obligation to ensure our veterans have access to food, healthcare, and housing as basic human rights and I am happy to do my part to support our local veterans.”

Soldiers’ Angels supports military families, deployed service members, and veterans of all eras with aid, comfort, programs, and resources. In 2021 alone, its monthly Veteran Food Distribution program distributed more than 1.5 million pounds of food to veteran families in six cities, including Atlanta.
