DeKalb County Planning & Sustainability Department receives recognition for Qualified Local Government Status
DECATUR, GA. – DeKalb County Planning & Sustainability, Long Range Planning Division, recently adopted the DeKalb County’s 2035 Comprehensive Plan Update. In recognition of DeKalb County’s impressive achievement, the Georgia Department of Community Affairs is honored to award Qualified Local Government (QLG) status to our community.
The Comprehensive Plan Five-year update is a state-mandated document required by the Georgia Department of Community Affairs. The update allows the local jurisdiction an opportunity to evaluate the progress made over the past few years and adjust to market changes. The most recent update includes updated demographics, recently adopted county plans (small area, LCIs, studies etc.), details on broadband, and a new and more aesthetically pleasing layout.
There are two major components of the update (1) Report of Accomplishments and (2) Community Work Program update.
- Report of Accomplishments illustrated success throughout all DeKalb County Departments. This success ranges from adopting a Small Area Study (SAP) on Memorial Drive, to Building a New East Precinct in the County along with a host of other major accomplishment county wide.
- Community Work Program identified major action items for various County Departments such as Planning and Sustainability, Watershed, Road & Drainage, Transportation, and many other departments all working toward implementing projects based on community needs and opportunities.
The department wishes to thank all the citizens for their participation and involvement in the development of the 2035 Comprehensive Plan Update.
