DECATUR – DeKalb County Clerk of Superior Court Debra DeBerry welcomes military veterans of all branches of service to record their DD-214 at the courthouse for safekeeping at no cost.
Form DD-214 is a one-page discharge document that contains all the necessary details of a veteran’s service record.

DeBerry states, “It has come to my attention that an Arizona business is charging veterans to file their DD-214 forms. There is absolutely no cost to Veterans filing the form and it is completely confidential and cannot be accessed by the public once filed with our office.” DD-214 forms include dates of service, military occupational specialties (MOSs) held, awards, education, and overseas service.

Veterans are encouraged to file their military discharge records with the Clerk’s Office in their county of residence.  These records are maintained for safekeeping and later retrieval by the veteran or their family members.  DeKalb County veterans can present their DD-214 form to the DeKalb County Clerk of Superior Court Office located at 556 N. McDonough Street, Ground Floor, Decatur, Georgia 30030, and it will be filed it in our records.

For more information on filing your DD-214 for safekeeping, please contact Vivian Cook [email protected] or 404-687-3814.
