Friendship Forest renovations completed

By TheChampionNewspaper.com

Clarkston officials have announced the reopening of Friendship Forest Wildlife Sanctuary parking lot, located at 4380 East Ponce de Leon Boulevard. The main entrance’s resurfaced parking lot is open daily from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.

The sanctuary remained open to those on foot, but parking lot renovations kept others from visiting.

City officials said Leach Landscaping—the city’s project contractor—recently completed $1.85 million in renovations and improvements that include wetlands restoration, paving of asphalt walking paths, wooden viewing decks, covered pavilion and restroom and a restroom building located at the sanctuary’s East Ponce main entrance.

The parking lot and the other renovated amenities are open to the public, according to city officials.

“Come enjoy a walk, jog, and other fun leisure activities at Clarkston’s Friendship Forest Wildlife Sanctuary!” Clarkston officials stated in a release.
