- This Thursday, February 2, please join our partners at the Georgia State University Prevention Research Center for a Brown Bag Workshop from 11am – 12pm, where a panel of community leaders are sharing their lessons on building community in super-diverse cities. This month’s workshop features: Omar Shekhy, Executive Director of the Somali American Community Center; Doris Mukangu, Founder/CEO of Amani Women Center; and Luay Sami, Executive Director of Clarkston Community Center. - On Saturday, February 25, please join the Clarkston Health Coalition and Refugee Women’s Network, for the Masjid Al-Momineen Community Health Fair in Clarkston from 11:30am – 3:30pm. The goal of this Health Fair is to increase access to health for Masjid members and surrounding Clarkston communities with emphasis on awareness of various health, educational and social services that are available at no cost, as well as provide these services to everyone—regardless of their immigration, refugee status or health insurance availabilities. We encourage all members, partners and friends of Clarkston Health Coalition to register, have their tables and offer their services at the Health Fair. - Pfizer bivalent COVID-19 booster doses will be available at all sites for patients aged 5 and older. This booster is designed specifically to offer protection against both the original strain of SARS-CoV-2 as well as the Omicron BA.4/BA.5 strains, now the predominant variants of the virus. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends the bivalent booster manufactured by Pfizer for individuals aged 5 and older. People should wait at least two months after completing their initial vaccination or their last booster shot before getting the bivalent booster. VACCINE SITE LOCATIONS
Vaccines are available to everyone aged 5 and over—first, second and booster doses! Only the Pfizer vaccine is authorized and recommended for children 5 – 17 years old. For adults aged 18+, Pfizer and Moderna vaccines are available at all sites. Walk-ups are available at all sites and people can also register in advance at this link: dekalbvax.coreresponse.org Available for those with and without insurance. Interpretation is available.
