The MARTA Police Department (MPD) is holding a hiring event for Police Officers, Dispatchers/Call-Takers, Emergency Preparedness Coordinators and Protective Specialists on Saturday, Sept. 24, 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.
MPD provides all uniforms and equipment necessary for position and pay starts at $47,340 and tops out at $67,371 for officers.

REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be 18 or older for Call Taker, Dispatcher, or Protective Specialists (21 for Police)
- Must be a U.S. citizen
- Must have high school diploma or equivalent
- Must have a valid driver’s license
- Emergency Preparedness Coordinator: 5 years emergency management experience and bachelor’s degree in related field.
Applicants must undergo a background investigation which includes a driving record and criminal history check, computer voice stress exam, and credit check. A medical exam including drug and alcohol screening, and psychological test are also required for police and Dispatcher applicants. Police applicants are required to complete a physical agility test.
MPD Officers, Dispatchers, and Call Takers work 4 days a week and can earn overtime. Protective Specialists work 5 days a week and have overtime opportunities.
Officers, Dispatchers and Call Takers can also earn a quarterly Perfect Attendance bonus.
All MPD employees are eligible for an annual $6,000 bonus for working evening and weekend shifts. Employees who demonstrate proficiency in a foreign language are eligible for an annual bonus of $1,500. Employees who possess Intermediate, Advanced, Supervisory, Management, and Executive Certifications are eligible for a one-time bonus of $1500.
MARTA is offering a $5,000 sign-on bonus for all lateral certified police officers and Dispatchers and $3,000 sign-on bonus for non-certified personnel for those agreeing to serve three years with MPD. Additionally, MPD offers up to $5,000 annual tuition reimbursement for employees taking career-related classes. Certified MPD Officers and Dispatchers are compensated for their monthly contribution to their Georgia Peace Officer Annuity Benefit Fund.
