Greeting Neighbors and Friends,
It is a busy week in District 7. I am proud to announce that during our Board of Commissioners meeting on Tuesday, we passed a mask ordinance that requires strict compliance in public buildings and retail establishments. Across the United States we are facing a substantial rise in COVID-19 cases, as testing increases. Along the cost of Georgia, many hospitals do not have beds available, due to the sharp uptick in COVID-19 cases. It is important we take every precaution possible to ensure our safety and that of our neighbors. As summer is upon us and we face social unrest, we cannot forget we are in the middle of a global pandemic. Please shelter in place and exercise social distancing. If you are in need of masks, you can contact my office. We make home deliveries if you will supply your address or you can choose to pick-up your masks from the front lobby – once I have placed your mask at the front desk.
As always, it is a pleasure to serve you. We continue to address voting protocol and I’d like to urge everyone to request absentee ballots or exercise early voting to avoid long lines at the polls. Research candidates carefully and make wise decisions on your support – DeKalb is counting on us all.
Your Commissioner,
Lorraine Cochran-Johnson, M.P.A.
Super District 7, DeKalb County
