STONE MOUNTAIN CARES – RESIDENTIAL RELIEF FUND
The City of Stone Mountain received more than $700K in Federal CARES Act money via DeKalb County. These funds are designed to help citizens and business owners who have been negatively impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
To effectively achieve the offering of assistance to its local residents, the City of Stone Mountain allocated its CARES Act funding to its General Fund for COVID related expenditures incurred during the 2020 year and during the November 5th session of Council voted to assign a portion of General Fund COVID Related Reserves to fund the Stone Mountain Cares – COVID-19 Residential Relief Fund. Of the $712K received by the City, Stone Mountain Officials allocated $165K to the local Residential Relief Fund. The Mayor and Council are also working to implement a small business relief fund, with several hundred thousand dollars in allocations, to aid its local businesses during this difficult time.
Through a collaboration with the Saint Vincent de Paul Society of Georgia, Stone Mountain residents living within the incorporated boundaries of the City are provided an opportunity to apply for mortgage, rent, and utility assistance through the program. Any resident of the City of Stone Mountain that has been financially impacted by the coronavirus beyond the March 1, 2020 date may qualify for financial assistance for mortgage, rent, and utilities.
Application can be made online at https://www.svdpgeorgia.org/stone-mountain-help/ . Also, Saint Vincent de Paul will be taking assistance requests through the Society’s assistance line (678) 892-6163 which directs people to the appropriate local conference via zip code.
The City of Stone Mountain wants its residents and business owners to know that they are not facing this crisis alone. The City is fighting the negative effects of this pandemic with them and for them.
