The holidays are a time to give thanks and appreciate the people closest to us. The Georgia Department of Transportation wishes the well being and safety for all of Georgia’s citizens and we hope you keep safety top of mind and Drive Alert Arrive Alive to your loved ones this holiday season.
Along with gifts, good food, family and comradery, this time of year often brings with it reflection. And with Thanksgiving in the rearview mirror, I thought it would be a good time to look back on some of the recent accomplishments the men and women of the Georgia DOT has achieved this year in service of the citizens of Georgia. Some recent achievements include:
- Approval of the Georgia Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Deployment Plan which equates to approximately $130 million in federal funds for the state’s electric vehicle charging infrastructure over the next five years.
- The department’s Keep it Clean Georgia anti-littering campaign won top honors from the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials.
- The launch of Georgia DOT’s new website designed to take advantage of improvements in technology to better share information with the public.
In Congressional District 5, I am inspired everyday by the men and women of the department who work tirelessly to keep Georgia’s transportation network running as efficiently as possible and responding to emergencies that have the potential to significantly impact Georgia’s motoring public. For example, the district was well positioned for any issues that may have arisen due to Hurricane Ian. Fortunately, the affect of Hurricane Ian was minimal in Georgia but District 5 preparedness was commendable with teams and equipment at the ready to provide assistance anywhere in the state if necessary.
As 2022 draws to a close, I would like to wish you and your family good health, happiness, success and best wishes for a prosperous new year. It is my privilege to serve on the Georgia State Transportation Board as your representative. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions, comments or concerns regarding the department and/or Georgia’s transportation network. As always, I appreciate your support and trust as your representative for Congressional District 5.
Happy Holidays!
