A busy DeKalb County road has been blocked for hours Wednesday morning while a SWAT situation is underway.

The DeKalb County SWAT unit is on the scene on Lavista Road near Biltmore Drive in the Toco Hill area. The road has been blocked between Briarcliff and North Druid Hills roads since before 5:30 a.m.

A police spokeswoman said negotiators are speaking with one person near a synagogue, and there is no community threat.

The WSB 24-hour Traffic Center suggests drivers take North Druid Hills or Clifton roads to get around the closure.
